Extra Credits Game Jam 5

I entered the Extra Credits Game Jam 5, and completed a simple platformer game. It’s similar to the two Ludum Dare platformers I made and currently have on my Portfolio page, but also different in a couple of important ways. The first, clearly, is that I used some art and music I didn’t make myself. The second is that it’s made in Godot instead of Unity.

I’ve been working with Godot for the last few months and the switch has been mostly positive. Expect more games made with Godot from me in the future!

For now I’m going to link the itch.io page of my Game Jam entry, but it’ll go up on my Portfolio some time after the Jam is over.

SimpleBlog Not So Much

I ended up not following through with my plan to try making a simple Blog again. I was planning to do it in order to show my skills for potential web dev jobs, but not long after I posted about it I realized I just wasn’t interested in that kind of work. I wanted to refocus on my video game development, so I’ve been doing that instead. I haven’t been updating this blog with my progress, though.

The Return of SimpleBlog

So it’s been years since I worked on my SimpleBlog project. I’ve decided to start a new project with the same name. The project is relatively simple; to create a minimal blog demo using ASP.NET and host it wherever I can find a spot. Right now I’m looking at IBM’s VPN Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Google’s VPN Cloud as trial beds. Maybe also Amazon Web Services; they’re pretty popular professionally, but they don’t have an unlimited free VPN like those first three. Unless they do, in the future when you’re reading this.

I’ll post links once I’ve got the basic app up somewhere.

Ludum Dare 40

I had neglected to add my Ludum Dare entry from late last year to my Porfolio so I did that just now. It’s a game called Warehouse Blues that I made in two days in Unity from scratch. It’s not perfect but I think I did a better job than my last 2D platformer.

Blog Update

I really don’t use this blog as often as I might think I should.

I’m still making games and doing other work. I’m adding a subdomain to my site to host a friend’s books. Hopefully that’ll help him gain exposure.

A Lot of Work to Do, a Lot of Cleanup to Do

I’ve been working pretty much non stop for the last few weeks. I had planned to upload my assignments as I did them, but they need some polish before I show them and I don’t have time for polish. So, expect a bunch of projects all at once when I get a load of free time, like maybe around winter holiday, or when I graduate next year…
